XAVIER INSTITUTE OF COMMUNICATIONS 23 April 2010 - XIC GARDENS

The Xavier Institute of Communications (XIC), held its Convocation on 23rd April 2010, marking the end of the 40th anniversary of the institute since its inception. The ceremony saw 200 students awarded diplomas in different media streams.

Ms. Sandra Vaz, Compere for the evening welcomed the Chief Guest Mr. Joseph St. Anne, Director & Producer- multimedia, and Guest of Honor Mr. M.M. Somaya, General Manager, Brand & Public Relations, Bharat Petroleum, and introduced them to the large gathering of Management, faculty, staff, students and guest.

Fr. Lawrie Ferrao SJ, Director - XIC, began the ceremony with a screening of inspirational thoughts. This followed a report on the institute's performance, and an audio-visual presentation - highlighting the achievements of the institute during the past academic year.

Short and inspiring addresses were delivered by the Chief Guest Mr. Joseph St. Anne and the Guest of Honor - Mr. M.M. Somaya. They congratulated students who received special awards for excellence, and also students who graduated from XIC.

When an institute like XIC has its convocation ceremony, the occasion is nothing short of a big event - the students were in full force and they all entered heartily into the spirit of the proceedings. The program was interjected with screenings of the best student productions and the presentation of awards by our well-wishers and benefactors.
This year, for the first time, students dressed in the traditional convocation robe to receive their diplomas.

The evening ended with the Director thanking all - Management, faculty, staff and specially the students for maintaining the decorum the ceremony deserved. He also thanked the Compere for making the evening extra special and successful. We thank the Lord for his continuous guidance as we enter into our 41st year - towards our golden milestone.
